It's been 8 years since songstress Chante Moore put out a solo album, but she's back and her voice is just as fine-tuned and smooth as it was on her 1992 debut Precious. Her past two releases have been duets with husband Kenny Lattimore, both of which featured cover songs as the core of their collaboration. But on her fifth solo effort Love the Woman, Chante steps back into the spotlight for a romp through big band, spicy R&B and jazz."Always Gonna Be Something" ignites the album with a stomp-clap beat and some keyboard twinkles that allow Chante's pipes to truly shine. Elsewhere on the album, she turns up the heat with club bangers like the Warryn Campbell-produced "Can't Do It" and snapping "My Eyes," a pledge of love to her husband. Another bumping track is "Special," on which Chante gets a touch of grassy R&B assistance from neo-soul mainstay Raphael Saadiq. The perfect playlist addition for a lazy summer day, the song features thick rim shots and an uplifting message dedicated to her fellow ladies.
