If there's two things we love here at Kiwibox, it's eating and video games. Major League Eating, the official game of the MLE sports franchise, is the perfect marriage of both. In the game, you play a character based on a real-life competitive eater, and it's your job to shove as many burritos, meatballs, pizzas, or any other foods imaginable down your gullet. You get to face off against another competitive eater with a range of attacks that can cause all sorts of gastrointestinal horrors. The object of the game is to chew and swallow more food than your opponent without getting indigestion. Trust us, it'll give you a newfound appreciation for people who eat hot dogs for a living.
The official launch event for the game included - What else? - A watermelon eating contest at the Nintendo World Store in New York, NY. The two contenders who were vying to break the watermelon world record - Tim "Eater X" Janus and Crazy Legs Conti - are also playable characters in the game.
Far from your typical eating contest (if there is such a thing), this one in particular included real eating and virtual eating in the MLE game for the Wii. In the real life portion of the contest, Crazy Legs won by a mouthful and set a new record by eating 15 slices and one bite. However, Tim made his comeback in the video game portion by delivering enough burp attacks to bring Crazy Legs to his knees. Yep, in MLE all manners pretty much go flying out the door.
In our exclusive video interviews from the event, we talked to both competitive eaters to find out how they prepare for a contest, what their favorite foods are, and what it's like playing yourself in a video game.
We also chatted with the man who penned the official Major League Eating rap, Badlands Booker. Since he's a competitive eater himself (he holds the record for eating 4 pounds of corned beef hash in under 2 minutes), he knows a thing or two about marathon gorging. Oh, and we also got him to rap for us.
See all this and more in the video on the next page!
