Jakob Dylan - Seeing Things

Unplugged and rough around the edges

You may remember Jakob Dylan for his piercing eyes and raw vocals on Grammy-winning tracks like "6th Avenue Heartache" and "One Headlight" with his group The Wallflowers. Or maybe you heard him singing with Dhani Harrison, son of The Beatles' George Harrison, on Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur - the same Lennon compilation for which Green Day recorded "Working Class Hero." After all the collaborations and bands, Dylan has finally decided to go it alone with his debut album, Seeing Things.

Similar to his legendary father Bob Dylan, it seems he's hung up his electric guitar and picked up the acoustic one, a style that works on this album. Dylan's record feels as intimate as an open mic at your local cafe. The finger-picking goodness seamlessly blends with Dylan's raspy yet gentle voice, definitely a softer edge than his Wallflower counterpart. Although there are only 10 songs on this album, it's obvious that each was written with sincere thought and care.

I haven't heard any of his solo stuff, but I'm definitely going to
check it out. I loved the Wallflowers.
