Liverpool-based The Delta Fiasco have been tearing it up overseas, playing festivals and headlining shows in their native area. But they have also recently been making a name for themselves in the U.S., opening for Ladytron as they made their way across the American terrain. Now, the UK trio is attempting to maintain their momentum by releasing Dreameater EP, a 6-track collection of new-wave concoctions with an added remix as a bonus.
In terms of sound and style, The Delta Fiasco channel the darkness of Interpol mixed with a beefed up version of The Smiths, spreading out synthesizer melodies and splashes of '80s guitar riffs as singer Nathan Walczak does his best impersonation of Morrissey. Often times, his vocals are so akin to Morrissey's that if you closed your eyes and forgot who you were listening to, you could easily be convinced that this was a modern day Smiths record. Whether that's a blessing or a curse is debatable, but the group mostly makes it work on this journey back to the '80s.
