The second episode of the 70's drama Swingtown dealt with Susan Miller's struggle to balance her new friends, the liberal Decker's, with her old, conservative friends, the Thompson's. At the beginning of the episode it is implied that both Susan and her husband Bruce partook in the swinging lifestyle at the Decker's party they attended last week. Though no details are revealed Susan's earring is found in the Decker's bed and later Susan and Bruce both promise to never swing ever again.
It would have been nice if the show had given us more details on the Miller's sexcapades last week, but the show has left it up to our imagination. Susan is trying her hardest to maintain her friendship with Janet Thompson, but Janet strongly disapproves of the Decker's lifestyle and she also disapproves of Susan's new found friendship with Trina Decker. Since Janet has shunned Susan for the time being, Susan and Trina grow closer. Susan is completely intrigued by Trina and almost admires her lifestyle, her easy, breezy demeanor and the strong way she carries herself. She finds herself suddenly wishing she was as cool and stylish as Trina and she starts to change her attitudes and style of dress to mimic those of Trina's.
