Get Smart

A well-played ode to the 1960's TV series.

Get Smart had the brains to save the world, make audiences laugh and collect $39.1 million at the box office this weekend, opening at number one.

As someone who has never seen the 1960's original television show, this movie was enjoyable and easy to follow despite references to the original Get Smart gadgets such as the shoe which doubles as a phone, robot agent Hymie and the Cone of Silence.

Maxwell Smart (Steve Carrell) is an analyst at CONTROL, a U.S. spy agency. Smart gets promoted to an agent, something that he has always dreamed. He finally gets to leave his desk job and follow in the footsteps of cool and collected Agent 23 (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson).

part of the problem might be that the original was pretty dry
humor as well
The movie was definitely funny but I wasn't all that impressed.
(Then again I'm not a Carell fan.) The cast was great though and
it was nice to see the guy from "Heroes" on the big screen!
