The ex-American Idol contestant goes solo.

On one of the windiest days of the summer, Ace Young stopped by the Kiwibox offices in New York City with a guitarist in tow after a long day of interviews. As he climbed through our conference room window onto the building's vertigo-inducing patio, Ace gracefully took a seat next to Kiwibox VJ Joanna to talk about life post-American Idol, the show that put him on the musical map and gave him a platform to take the next step as a solo artist.

And what a solo career it's been thus far. Born in Denver, Colorado and a current resident of Los Angeles, California, Ace has been using that sultry voice to woo the ladies as far back as at the age of 9, when he sang the national anthem at sporting events and was a member of local choirs. But it wasn't until he auditioned for the fifth season of AI that he truly got an opportunity to shine, being chosen as a finalist and hailed as a favorite by the judges - even by the king of criticism himself, Simon Cowell.

Ace made it halfway through the competition before he was shockingly eliminated from the running, but that didn't stop him from continuing to pursue his dream. After he left the show, he hooked back up with that season's winner Chris Daughtry (you might have heard of him) to pen tracks for the victor's debut album. Ace even did his thing in the acting world, appearing on Bones as a character who gets axed and gets the close-up treatment on his bloodied corpse.

But Ace is alive and well, gearing up for his official musical introduction to the world as a solo artist. His self-titled debut record is set to hit shelves soon, but in the meantime, Ace is making sure that his single "Addicted" is doing just what its title suggests it's meant to do - get stuck in your head and never leave. To get a sneak peek of what Ace is up to, check out his interview with Joanna about the album and an exclusive acoustic performance of the track. And to all you lady fans out there, don't you worry, he made one thing clear: He's single - and looking.
