Guitar Hero: On Tour
Activision
(Nintendo DS)

The first time I laid eyes on the Guitar Grip peripheral for Guitar Hero: On Tour, I thought it was an elaborate prank. How in the world could game developer Vicarious Visions shrink and modify our beloved Les Paul and expect it to still make rock 'n roll magic? Well, it does - it's just a completely different experience.
Guitar Hero: On Tour comes with a few key pieces that make it work for the DS. You have your Guitar Grip, which snaps into the GBA slot and has a strap for your strumming hand, along with four frets running along the end. There's a little pocket on the Guitar Grip that houses your pick, modified with a stylus-like tip. And let's not forget the sweet sticker pack it comes with, too.
Since you're jamming out on your itty-bitty DS as opposed to a big screen, gameplay loses that social aspect of shredding for all to see (unless your bus seat-mate is particularly nosy). But the game itself is nearly identical to Guitar Heroes past. Graphics are very similar, except for the fact that your character doesn't sing in time with the music. Star Power is activated by shouting in to the mic (or, if you'd rather not make a spectacle of yourself in public, blowing into it).
