The previews and the poster focus primarily on him and on his role, but once one sees one second of his performance, his intense character shines through. As a villain, Heath Ledger might have found his perfect niche. Those who have seen the film have come away with awe and words of amazement at how he has played this role. The eeriness of the movie is apparently only matched by how well he acted the part.The movie opens on July 18 to one of the most hyped openings that America has seen in a long time. Whether or not, the movie and his performance will live up to the hype is yet unanswered. Many will go to this movie not only to see him but to experience the strangeness of the situation. No one will get to know, however, if all the hype, the possible Oscar nomination, or the freakiness of the performance will be due to genuine respect for his acting ability or to people's attraction to death and darkness.
