Saving Self-Confidence

Ever since Juno, teen pregnancy has been "in." It's odd to think of a life-long responsibility as trendy, but statistics seem to support this notion with pregnancy among teens at an all-time high. It seems to be everywhere we look from television to the hallways of local high schools, not to mention more so in Massachusetts. But the real question is why?

Is it the media? The schools? Lessons at home?

Kristina Coia thinks the answer might lie in self-confidence.

At sixteen, Kristina has achieved more than most will strive to complete in a lifetime. At age 11 she wrote and published her first fantasy novel which was followed shortly thereafter by a second book in the same genre and more recently she has begun a character development program for teens--well teens younger than herself called Shine Through. This program focuses on developing self-confidence in teens while trying to fight the pressure peers place upon each other.
