Alexis Bledel

When did this Sisterhood star take off down the road to stardom?

Written by: T. Stanzione – Posted: Sat Jul 26th, 2008

In the Spring of 2000, she got a manager through her modeling agency and headed to Los Angeles for her first pilot season of Gilmore Girls, where she quickly landed the role of Rory. When the show first began, Rory was a high school student living with her single mother Lorelei, but later on she attended Yale and wrote for the Yale Daily News. Alexis has said that she can relate to her character in a variety of ways, and even the mother-daughter relationship portrayed by Rory and Lorelei is something she thinks other kids can relate to as well.

For her work on the show, she was honored with the 2002 Family Friendly Forum Award for Best Actress in a Drama. Gilmore Girls is now on its 7th season and people have loved watching the mother daughter relationship since 2000. Alexis made her feature film debut as Winnie Foster in Tuck Everlasting, co-starring William Hurt. But now, when most people see a picture of her they recognize her as one of the four girls in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 is scheduled for release on August 6, 2008. Next year, she has starring roles in two films: The Post Grad Survival Guide and The Good Guy. It'll be exciting to see what's in store for Alexis in years to come.
