Teddy Geiger Exclusive Interview

Ladies love this Teddy bear.

Written by: Steven H., Senior Editor – Posted: Thu Jul 31st, 2008

Ladies love Teddy Geiger. It's a proven fact. He's got that adorable swoop of black hair that tragically covers one eye like an emo pirate, a perfect set of white teeth that glisten when he talks and, to top it all off, he's a musician. It's commonly known that girls get weak in the knees when a guy can serenade them with his warm voice and hit a few strums on his guitar. But Teddy's out to prove he's more than just a pretty face who plays the guitar. His 2006 debut record Underage Thinking was serious business, and with his sophomore album The March on the way, you'll almost forget that he's got the looks to match the music. Almost.

Teddy, hailing from Rochester, New York, is wasting no time to put out his second album, slated for a release sometime this fall. But he's made it known that The March isn't a record that he rushed out without carefully considering the songs that will be included on it. In fact, he went about choosing its final tracklisting (which, as of now, hasn't been completely solidified) by giving fans the opportunity to stream 33 tracks that he recorded on his website and pick their top 11 jams to make the final cut. After tallying up the votes for the top most requested songs, Teddy will have his second album in the can, giving fans another piece of Teddy to add to their collection.

And not only is Teddy a music-making machine, but he's got the acting game on lock as well. He's got a supporting role in the upcoming film The Rocker co-starring Rainn Wilson, Christina Applegate and Will Arnett, playing the guitarist in a band that ex-hair metal member Rainn joins. Even before acting in the film, Teddy was doing his thing in Hollywood on the small screen with his role on the show Love Monkey, which, although it didn't last long, gave his music career some shine by featuring his song "For You I Will (Confidence)" as its theme song.

With the release of The March just around the corner, Teddy is finishing up his tour across the U.S., playing shows to TedHeads (that's what his fans like to call themselves) and taking requests onstage - kind of like he's doing with the tracklist for his new CD. While in New York City on the day of his performance at the Bowery Ballroom, Teddy stopped by the Kiwibox offices to talk with Senior Editor Colleen about what the vibe was like on the set of The Rocker, how many fan-made tracklists he received and what the greatest thing is about having the album released in this way.
