Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks were at the MySpace stage right next door, so I swung by to catch the last song of the set. I wasn't digging it too much... Stephen Malkmus, who some consider a rock god for putting out some of the most groundbreaking indie music as part of the band Pavement, performed noise-ridden tracks that were loud enough to cull blood from my ears. Definitely lost some hearing at that one, and it wasn't really what I expected from the father of indie rock. Maybe he'd do better in a more intimate venue where you can really feel the music, but this one was not a festival gem.
