Aerosmith played an integral part in creating the game, and it shows. You have Joe Perry's full guitar line-up at your disposal, and your dressing room is even modeled after the band's own. Song-wise, it's a good mixture of well-known hits and new songs, so there's everything from Uncle Salty to Livin' on the Edge to Pandora's Box. Not too many ballads, but you generally don't pick up your plastic Les Paul to have a sobfest, right? You'll find that the difficulty is on-par with Guitar Hero's past. Some of the solos can be surprisingly brutal, especially if you don't know what to expect. Obviously, it helps a lot to know and like the songs, but it's pretty much a given that you're an Aerosmith fan if you're purchasing their game.
Overall, Vicarious Visions did a great job integrating the band into the game. It feels like a complete game as opposed to a cheap re-do to make a buck off the popular franchise. Plus, it paves the way for other groups to do the same, and it looks like a few metal gods are jumping on the Guitar Hero bandwagon too: Guitar Hero: Metallica is slated for release early next year.
