
Lounging in one of the many lawn chairs scattered about the media area, Serena Ryder looked quite content as she sought refuge from the blazing Chicago sun. Serena was making the rounds before taking Lollapalooza's BMI stage, where she later performed cuts from her forthcoming album Is It OK and picks from her back catalogue. Petite and cute as a button, she was surprisingly candid for an artist of her stature. This past April, the Toronto native won the 2008 Juno Award (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy's) for New Artist of the Year.
But even with a huge achievement like that on her resume, Serena was as sweet as pie, discussing her forthcoming album with a nice big smile on her face. As she chatted with Senior Editor Steven, Serena explained the reason that she left the question mark off her album title Is It OK, how she translates her recorded tracks into live little gems and just how much this disc differs from her past material.
