The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Mummies aren't so funny after all.

This time, the family is faced with fighting the resurrected Han Emperor in a journey that races from ancient China high into the icy Himalayas, where they are joined by abominable snowmen. The O'Connells must stop this mummy awoken from a curse, placed by the sorceress 2,000 years ago, and who now threatens to enforce his rule on the world.

Though the dialogue in this film is cheesy and enhances in the plot in no way, the action and the visual effects are something worth seeing. Shaky and confusing at times, the camera did tend to lose its focus but some of the best scenes were the fight scenes between the Chinese armies themselves. The single combat scene between Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh is artful and magnificent. Jet Li is fierce and vicious as the title emperor and Yeoh holds the audience's attention as a powerful sorceress.

With an ending calling for a possible fourth film with a setting in Peru, we can only hope Fraser regains his humor by the time they start filming this next one, or maybe they'll leave out the dialogue and just keep the visual effects.
