Rogen ends up playing more of the straight guy in this film, letting Franco be the comedic star on screen. The two have not worked together since their short-lived TV comedy, Freaks and Geeks. Franco then went onto play more serious parts like his starring role in Spiderman but this movie makes you wonder why he ever stopped doing comedy. Franco's return to comedy is long-overdue and much appreciated by anyone who enjoys laughing.
It is not all about the comedy, however, Pineapple Express, is an action-comedy after all and action-filled it is. Franco is a veteran to fight scenes, but Rogen was surprisingly believable as well as he uses guns and even a fire extinguisher as a weapon. The graphic fight scenes left you laughing and squirming at the same time. The two seemed natural as partners and that could have to do with them improvising much of the dialogue.
Overall, this movie is a one-of-a-kind action stoner flick that will leave you laughing for days. It is a must-see for comedy and action fans alike. So go embark on this unlikely adventure and you are sure to be highly satisfied.
