With their new album out last week, The Jonas Brothers are "Burning Up" in more ways than one.
For the last 24 hours Disney-crazed fans have been lined up outside Bryant Park with their sleeping bags in hand, preparing for the arrival of The Jonas Brothers. This morning, the boys that are redefining the term "boy band" performed a free concert in the park as part of Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series.
The crowd at the concert was so full of life. Almost every kid there was either wearing an official Jonas Brothers concert tee or sporting there own creation. Slogans on the shirts varied from "I Heart JB" to "Joe, will you marry me?"
Screaming girls of all ages are obsessed with the phenomenon that is The Jonas Brothers. They have traveled and even camped out to catch a glimpse of Nick, Joe and Kevin. Even with most people having to be held on their parent's shoulders, the concert was a big hit.
Like the Miley Cyrus concert a few weeks ago, the Kiwibox.com street team and I got up at the crack of dawn in order to get in on all the action. While interviewing screaming fans, we couldn't help but to rock out to "S.O.S." and "Burning Up."
The Jonas Brothers got their start when Nick, who had a solo album at the age 7, gave his recording company a demo of him and his brothers singing a song that they had written. Columbia Records loved their work, and in 2005, they were signed as a group act.
Along with promoting their own albums, the boys have been on tour with Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne. The Burning Up tour is currently in progress. This weekend they are taking over New York City with three shows at Madison Square Garden.
While touring the country, the "Jo Bros" have managed to still remain Disney Channel icons. In 2009, they will have their own Disney Channel Original Series entitled J.O.N.A.S.! They will also be starring in the sequel to the DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie) Camp Rock.
The Jonas Brothers have recently won six Teen Choice Awards and have had most of their singles peak at #1. The boys are living the dream while we're sitting at home dreaming about them.
