Murs might be new to you, but he's actually been one of the most prominent presences in independent hip-hop ever since he debuted as one-third of underground favorites 3 Melancholy Gypsies in 1996. Soon after, the L.A.-based emcee stepped into the spotlight with his first solo release F'Real in '97, winning over a fan base of true hip-hop lovers with his distinctive voice, wildly visceral (and often comedic) rhymes and prolific rate of output. He's released an album every year since '99 - often times putting out two when he's feeling extra productive - building an extensive oeuvre that's included collaborative full-lengths with producer 9th Wonder (their 3:16 album is a hands-down classic) and Atmosphere's Slug as part of the duo Felt.
