Title: Do It Yourself Photo Phonebook
Subtitle: Keep your close ones at your fingertips
It is a boring, dateless Friday night, and you have had a long week of classes. The last thing you want to think about is homework, or that math exam next week. So, you decide to call a few people, and ask them to hang out. You scramble around the dorm, gathering up the phone numbers, and rummaging through your desk drawer, trying to find that piece of memo pad paper that the cute guy in math class wrote his cell number on.
Is your desk starting to look like a disheveled phonebook? Are you tired of trying to find all of those numbers scattered all around your room? Here is a cool way for you to store your phone numbers while adding a sense of decor to your desk or dresser. If so, give this easy do-it-yourself project a try and those tiny yellow post-it notes will soon become a thing of the past.
What you need 3x5 lined index cards
Hole punch
Contact paper or a laminating machine
One inch O or D rings
Photo's of your friends, family & places you call often
What to do 1. On the lined side of your index cards write out all your addresses, phone numbers, emails and other notes. You can also include clothing sizes, birthdays and other sometimes necessary information. On the top line of the card write the person or places name in a bold marker so it will stand out.
2. On the blank side of the index card paste a photo of each person or place. To add more flare try using fun, sassy photo's of them. This is also the time to decorate each card. Use your imagination and creativeness to decorate each card personally. You can use markers, stickers, fabric or magazine cut-outs.
3. Verify that youve got all the information you want on each card. If you have a laminating machine simply run each card through and trim them. If you don't have a laminating machine, that's ok too. Use clear contact paper and affix it to each side of the cards. Bind the corners using an angled tool such as a pen or fingernail to be sure the edges are bound together. Be sure to smooth out any wrinkles in the contact paper first. If you dont it will shrivel up when your trying to join the card and contact paper together.
4. Use a hole punch to punch a hole in the top left corner of all the cards. You can also punch holes in both top corners if you would rather have it be in a book style format. You can use a regular round hole punch or you can get shaped punches at most stores that sell craft supplies for around eight to ten dollars. You can find these in about any shape including: suns, stars, hearts, flowers and seashells.
5. Use the one inch O or D rings to put all you index cards together. If you have too many cards for the one inch rings you can always find bigger sized rings up to five inches. For a box of 20 rings, it is around five dollars.
One of the best things about this phone book is that you can keep on adding and clearing out cards. With other address and phone books, you would have to mark or tear out old entries. Adding new names would be a hassle, especially if you ran of space on the page corresponding to the person's initial. So, now, you can get rid of that ex's number, without making your phone book look bad. The other advantage is that it looks savvy next to your phone or in your purse. Your phone numbers are wherever
whenever! It is like having your very own rolodex, without the bulky stand.
