Hey Kiwis! I just got some news from MTV! They know what a twitter fan I am and thought that we might be interested in a little game that they're playing before Justin Timberlake's new show premieres. "The Phone" starts on Tuesday, April 21st, at 10 PM EST. They are hosting an official game of telephone on Twitter. Here's what they told me: Get your Telephone Twitter on by going to MTV Twitter, and looking for the key word #thephone. Then, just re-tweet the last message (but change one word) and youre in the game! The direct link to the post on the MTV Remote Control blog is: here. I've already joined in the game, but will you? Go and try it out, Kiwis, and check out "The Phone" when it premieres next week! xoxo Chelsea
So I was pretty excited when the Kiwibox staff agreed to my idea about having a comic book issue. More and more comic book movies are getting made, TV shows are based off comic-y ideas, and it's becoming mainstream to know who Hal Jordan is. As a girl who grew up in a comic book store, it's pretty amazing to see how once I'd be stared at for being 'weird,' and now it's cool that I know more about Batman than the actual comic writers. Needless to say, this issue amounted to all kinds of glee for me. If you want to see who the Kiwibox staff chose as their favorite comic heroes, check it out! In Entertainment, we had quite a few exciting articles this week, comic related and otherwise. There are comic movies that are nothing like their actual books, a preview for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and comic book movies that should be made. On the non-comic side we had an interview with Speidi (Spencer and Heidi from The Hills), and an interview with Tyler from Taking the Stage. Moving on over, we have reviews of three DS games that you just HAVE to try out if you have one: Zubo, Rhythm Heaven, and Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure. They're incredible for the portable system. Then check out a funny article about Video Game Lies that should make you laugh. I know it made me laugh! Alright that's it for me today. Go out and read a comic, trust me, they're worth it even after twenty years ... and then some!
It's sunny out here in New York City, although just yesterday it decided to flurry snow at us for about ten minutes. But yesterday is yesterday, and today is sunny. I only wish I could enjoy it. I, unfortunately, am sick. I sit here with my cough drops and Day Time Liquid, and mourn the loss of healthy lungs. This week was about celebrity. I'll admit one of my guilty pleasures includes reading gossip websites like PerezHilton or wwtdd.com (the second is very mature, warning!). Do I care what Tom Cruise had for lunch? Nooooot really. But occasionally I'm amused by it. Kind of like Reality TV. Last night's episode of LOST was completely epic, and I hope everyone who watched it had a blast. Benjamin Linus, cockroach and survivor supreme, came out of judgment alive ... but now a slave to his nemesis John Locke. Dum dum duuuuuuum! Awesome. It is the best show on TV, and every time I think about it ending next year, I get a little teary eyed. Now let's talk about this week. We had some great articles in the ET and Games section I hope you checked out. First up would be one of my favorites, the Best Celebs on Twitter. Why? Because I'm a twitter fanatic and have all of them on my follow list. They're funny, what can I say? Next would be the review of Grand Theft Auto's voray into the portable system world, Chinatown Wars. It's a mature game, but if you're old enough to grab it, enjoy. Fantastic! As for the Entertainment section, we had an interview with a lovely young actress/model named Katie Chonacas. She sponsored several underprivileged kids and just is a sweetheart. Then there's the One-Show Wonders, actors who hit it big in a show and then dropped off the face of the planet. Oh I ALMOST forgot my very favorite article from this week. All the editors got together and posted the Celeb we'd most like to meet. I hope you enjoyed this issue, and get ready for next week. It's definitely going to be my favorite so far, because it covers one of my absolute biggest loves. What would that be? You'll find out Tuesday! Cheers!
Hello Kiwis! I don't know how many of you are into WiiWare, and if you aren't already, what the heck? All Wii users should jump on the Ware bandwagon. For those of you who are going 'whaaaat?' I'll explain. WiiWare is a way for Wii users to download games and app's specifically made for the Wii. You can only buy them through the Wii Shop Channel which pops up whenever you start up the Wii. Then you head on over to the WiiWare section and pick something that looks great. These are slightly smaller games that have lower budgets but are usually fantastic in concept. Personally I'd suggest Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King or Mega Man 9. Nintendo regularly comes out with lists of games for you to check out, so even if you play one to completion, there will be a whole stack of them left over to try out afterward. That being said, I wanted to give everyone a head's up on a great new game on WiiWare. Nintendo suggested it to me since I'm loving Gardening Mama, so here's a quick look at the plot of Bonsai Barber: "The game is centered around a barber who gives five haircuts a day to a village of bonsai trees. The trees hair is bonsai leaves, and as a fun twist, their bodies are fruits and vegetables, including a temperamental shallot starlet (don't call her an onion!), an oddball strawberry boffin, a cactus cowboy, a daredevil carrot and a suave banana with top-secret clearance and a license to peel." I'm definitely going to try out the game myself and I'll let you know what I think, but if it interests you jump onto the Wii now!
Is it safe to come out during the day of pranks and tomfoolery? I think so! We've been prankless at Kiwibox today, and that is mostly because there are too many great things that need to go up. Who has the time? In any case, I wanted to just quickly update you on some interviews that went up, and also a head's up on a MTV movie. Pedro the movie is about Pedro Zamora. He was on the third season of The Real World in 1994, and a huge activist for AIDS education and safe sex. He was an openly gay AIS-positive spokesperson, and at the time he was on the show this was a very big deal. He died very soon after the show aired, and it was terribly tragic. I actually got to speak with one of the actors from the movie, and his interview should be going up next week, but the article above gives information about the movie and Pedro. It also has an opener by former President Bill Clinton! Today Tyler from "Taking the Stage" came to the office and did a dance for Kiwibox. This should be up next week, but I got a chance to interview one of his co-stars Mia Carruthers. She serenaded us with a song, and I think you'll really like it. What else, what else ... oh! If you want to learn more about MLG, the event Matt and I are going to this weekend, here's an article about MLG and what's going on in the Meadowlands. So that's that! Hope you all are doing well!
