Terrible Trends

Fads we're glad didn't stick around
The last ten years have been a whirlwind of new fashions. Some of today's most popular styles are reinventions of older trends. Most of them are great, but there are also some past trends that we are glad to forget.

Super High Platform Shoes

These skyscraping shoes were made popular by trendy groups like the Spice Girls and Aqua. They were a huge hit back in the late-nineties, but really, did we ever truly think they looked good? Their chunky style would inevitably detract from the wearers outfit, and make it an absolute nightmare to walk up and down stairs.

Crocs

Although these foamy shoes are super comfortable, it's hard to imagine footwear looking worse than this. Their clownish proportions and neon colors just make them that much worse.

Head Bandanas

These were impressively popular in the early 2000's. Although these bandanas are still around today, they are more commonly worn around the wrist or wrapped around the head as a hairband, mimicking a popular 80's trend.

Giant Snow Boots

Although a slightly more demure pair of Uggs are still very fashionable, their knock-offs and imitators are much less beautiful. These giant furry creations succeeded in making even girls with the longest of legs appear short and stumpy, while detracting attention away from the rest of their outfit. These boots made us all take on the appearance of an abominable snowman.

Grillz

These diamond encrusted teeth were made popular by rappers such as Nelly and Paul Wall. Not only do they look horrifying, but they're really bad for your teeth too.

Shutter Shades

These ridiculous glasses were made popular by Kanye West a couple years back. Sure, they look kind of cool, but what's the point of glasses you can't clearly see out of? Currently, the only place you will likely catch these shades is on printed t-shirts and artwork.

These ridiculous trends may bring back memories for some of us, and for others, this may be the first you're hearing about them. But as long as there is human life, there will be fashion trends. If we embrace these trends, we may look awesome or possibly just make a fool of ourselves. We won't really know until these current trends are evaluated another ten years from now!
