10 Years of Fashion Trends

Top trends of the last decade
In the past 10 years, there have been some fashion trends that are best left not remembered while others have proven to be undeniably and unforgettably stylish!

As the end of the nineties neared and the beginning of the 21st century began, capris, the popular three quartered pant-legs, made a grand entrance on the runways of fashion. Low-rise jeans were also introduced in this time. It was during this era of Britney Spears’ belly displaying that women started wearing their jeans confidently tight and low.

Fitted jackets and vintage tees also topped the trend charts in the early 2000s. Everyone roamed the streets with denim jackets and brightly colored vintage tees. The fitted military jacket as well as the printed and graphic tee were also extremely popular and are still worn today.

In the mid to late 2000s and presently, fashion has taken a more feminine turn. Leggings and tunics are paired with ballet flats. High-waisted skirts and flowy printed blouses are worn together.

There is a major influence from the 70s hitting fashion currently. But don’t forget the huge 80s punk influential trend of the past couple years: skinny jeans. I urge you -- don’t leave home without them! You don’t want to be caught sporting the "boot-cut" look, I promise.

I love skinny jeans and all, but it has became increasingly difficult to find flared or even boot cut jeans lately.

Ah sorry guys, that's a mistake! I meant 'bell-bottom'. Boot cut jeans are my favorite and very flattering!

Oh, don't worry, I have the same problem. My hips are 10" bigger than my waist. It's such a PITA to find jeans that fit.

Also, I have to buy pants (and shorts and skirts) that fit my hips and thighs, which make them too big around my waist and I have no choice, but to wear a belt. This is b/c my waist is about 8.5" smaller than my hips.

I'm slightly overweight, specifically in my thigh area, and skinny jeans (if you can find some that fit me) look HORRIBLE on me! They only look good on SKINNY people! Boot-cut are my fave. Flared & wide-leg just make me look bigger.

I fully agree. Boot cut jeans aren't for everyone. They don't flatter equally. Honestly, I'm not sure they flatter at all.

Um, what's wrong with the "boot-cut" look? I'm pear shaped and skinny jeans look HORRIBLE on me, while boot cut jeans are what look best on me. So, no, I won't be buying skinny jeans.
