Scariest Horror Movies

Some of the most frightening horror films of all time
Horror films range from the suspenseful thriller to extreme gore. Everyone has their own tastes and find different things to be truly scary. Still, there are those movies that get to us all. Here are some of the scariest horror movies ever to hit screens.

The Shining, 1980
The film gets a little slow at times, but Stanley Kubrick's film version of Stephen King's famed novel still manages to be one heck of a scare fest. Of course, now that I've mentioned this movie I am obligated to say "Heeeere's Johnny!"

The Exorcist, 1973
Still haven't seen it? You might not want to. Not only terrifying but mentally disturbing, this film manages to mess up even the most firm nonbelievers of God and Satan.

The Thing, 1982
A crew stationed in Antarctica is stalked by a shape-shifting alien. Nobody knows who the alien is until one of the crew members begins to shift shapes, resulting in one truly terrifying and somewhat nauseating scene. Its Alien meets the horror genre.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 1974
This is one twisted film. It's gory, shocking, and scary. While the remake isn't bad, this one tops it in style and the fact that it has forever since had people questioning whether the massacre took place in real life.

The Blair Witch Project, 1999
This truly is, in my opinion, one of the scariest movies ever made! While you never see what is haunting the three young filmmakers, their fear feels extremely real. One tip: don't watch this alone in the dark if it is your first time seeing it.

Paranormal Activity, 2009
Yes it's new. Yes it's scary. Like The Blair Witch Project it is extremely low budget, and stars unheard-of actors. Have we finally discovered the formula for the ultimate horror film? I think so.

What do you think are some of the scariest movies of all time?

Quarantine- that is probably the worlds scariest movie. For the love of god, watch it in broad daylight with all the lights on and keep a bucket close (for a number of reasons) and don't watch it alone.

Pet Sematary always gets me. ::shivers:: It's not quite as scary as it was when I was little, but there are still some scenes where I have to cover my eyes!
