Frugal FashionUpdate your wardrobe on a budgetThe economy is causing a lot of us to have to cut back on expenses. Money is harder to earn, and prices just keep getting higher. But, of course, we can't wear our summer wardrobe through fall and winter. Read on for tips on finding great fall wardrobe staples at low prices. ![]() Shop at thrift stores Second-hand stores offer clothing for super-low prices. You can expect to find some clothes from recent brands and trends, but most clothes are from the 80s and 90s. These stores are a great place for finding some quirky pieces to pair with jeans or sweaters. On top of their already low prices, many thrift stores also have red tag sales. You can usually manage to get a great sweater or pair of jeans for under five bucks. Shop at Garage If vintage second-hand pieces aren't your style, find a Garage store near you. Although some of their items can be pricey, they are constantly having really great sales. This season, you can buy an item at sale price and get another item of equal or lesser value for free. These pieces currently include tank tops, cardigans and sleepwear. Have a swap party Invite your friends over for a great swap party. Have them bring over some of their clothes that they no longer wear or like and trade clothes with a friend of a similar size. That way, you all get some great pieces that are new to you while having a fun time. If any of the clothes are left unclaimed at the end, donate them to a local charity shop or church so they can go to people who need them. ![]() Shop online If you have a PayPal account or credit card, you can shop online. eBay has a lot of listings that start at just one cent! If you are lucky enough to be the only bidder, you pay only one cent for a great piece of clothing. Many online stores and boutiques also have a clearance section where you can find items on super-sale. The great thing about online shopping is the possibilities are endless and you can find pieces that no one else in your area will have. Remember to read all fine print and shipping expenses before purchasing! Have fun updating your wardrobe while saving money. Shopping doesn't have to be expensive as long as you know where to look.
