Uncommitted Voters Say Biden Won

Uncommitted voters who watched the vice presidential debate thought Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden did the best job by a margin of more than two to one, according to a CBS News/Knowledge Networks poll taken immediately following the debate.

However, there was good news in the poll for Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, too. Palin's debate performance improved uncommitted voters' perceptions of her overall, and on a number of specific measures. But uncommitted voters still have doubts about her ability to assume the presidency if necessary and she lags behind Biden on her knowledge and preparedness for the job.

Few of the pre-debate uncommitted voters committed to a candidate immediately afterwards - about seven in 10 remain uncommitted.

Respond: Who do you think won?

I like that they're shaking hands and Palin isn't looking at Biden and she's waving. How polite!

ShortyBSB... Alaska isn't doing well. Drunk-driving rates increased under Palin in Wasilla, and it has much higher than average reported cases of rape. Both things Palin chose not to be proactive about. The fact that you haven't heard news reports of Alaska catching fire and sinking into the sea while Satan feasts on the tender flesh of innocent Alaskan children doesn't mean it's "doing well". Try actually reading about the state.

Ooh I'm insulted.

haha, it's cause she's such a "maverick" doin' mavericky things.

my favorite part was when she said something to the effect of "I may not answer the questions as you or the moderator want me to. I just want to speak directly to the American people." I'm like holy crap. Way to go there. You're in a debate. Why not act professionally and like you're in a debate. The time to talk "directly to the American people" is when you're doing a speech to the American people.

Lutetia, are you Palin in disguise?!

He did win. Only an idiot would say that chick won. She hardly sounded knowledgable of anything other than her resume.

I think she did an amazing job. She's obviously no air head, if she were, Alaska wouldn't be doing half as well under her as it is. So apparently she's done a few things right. And I think she could do those very same good things for our country as well, as could McCain. Biden did a good job, but all he did was talk about himself, as if HE were running for the presidency, which I happen to think didn't help his cause. No one cares about him, they care about Obama, although I care about neither of them.

Joe Biden clearly won that debate. At least from my perspective. Like ToniMaRie said, Palin is dipicted as an "airhead" because she is an airhead. How on earth can I belive she's ready to be a VP and heaven forbid the President when she uses phrases like "heck-yea-dontcha-know there" and gives shout outs to all the third graders in Alaska? She never once answered a question completely. She just danced around the question. She was more prepared, I'll give her that. It's almost as if she sat down with whomever it is she works with to prepare for these things, and said "lets just put down all the possible topics that we may talk about. Then I'll write down key points that I want to speak about." Did anyone else ever notice that she rarely looked at Biden while they were debating. McCain did the same thing during the Presidential debates, only he NEVER once looked at Obama when they were actually debating the issue. It was cowardly of both of them not to look at their opponent in my opinion. And in comparrison with Obama, Biden and McCain, Palin has practically no experience with any of this. She never once mentioned any experiences that tell me she is qualified to take on the VP position or God forbid, the Presidency position should something horrible happen. OBAMA/BIDEN 2008!!!

Go Joe Biden!

Look, the reason why she is "depicted" as an airhead is because she is. Everyone always bashes the media, but the media is the portal to which we get our (political) information (ALL media) I'm so thankful they let me know what's going on in the world. Think about it.. what have you learned (in current times).. that you, or someone else HASN'T learned from the media? And another thing.. they can't edit what isn't there. I watched Sarah Palin's big interview after the debate and she STILL didn't redeemed herself in my eyes. She just rambles on and on. I have never heard her say anything that I thought came from her own beliefs. Except, "as Putin rears his ugly head"...

I don't think she knew the questions ahead of time, the moderator said that at the beginning and she didn't really answer any questions. McCain is a maverick. Obama wants to raise your taxes. We need cheap energy. Lets look forward. I was the governor of Alaska and told those oil companies who is boss. Got it :-/ That was her answer to everything. Just driving home talking points and trying to connect with the audience at home by winking and looking right into the camera - not answering the question. I think Biden won because he answered the questions. I do think Palin did better than I expected but that's really only because I think they rehearsed so much told her to drive those talking points home, be charming and all of that. But content wise - Biden definitely.

palin did not appear as an airhead because SHE KNEW THE QUESTIONS AHEAD OF TIME. and not only that, she spent a solid few days JUST preparing for this debate. so of course she exceeded everyone's VERY LOW expectations. but honestly, if you think she won this debate you are a fool. she didn't answer any questions directly, provide details, or even talk of specific experiences that would make her a good VP candidate. all she did was throw around cliches and wink at the camera and JUST WISH she was a sweet as joe biden. the fact that there's even a question that he didn't win this debate is laughable. that man's a politcal elvis, and i love him.

I agree that Biden won that debate, but definitely not by 2-1,Palin actually surprised me and did much better than I expected....or rather better than anyone expected.

Biden, absolutely though i must admit Palin did not appear as an air-head, as sometimes she is depicted this way
