My mom influenced me to write this because she loves to run races and it had to be sad but no this is not real.

In the year of 1999
The ultimate race came
A new mother with her baby daughter at home, miles away
She was determined to do this for the love of the game

Volunteers prepared tables as the sun came up
She picked up her assigned number and pinned it to her chest
Eagerly awaiting the chance to test her skills like never before
Thrilled that her lucky number would help her do her best

She set her sports watch for a nine minute mile
She and 20,000 other runners were ready to run
Filled with courage, confidence and willpower
At the start of the race and shot of the gun

Her mind wandered as she passed energetic crowds
Tears of sweat streamed down her face
She breathed deeply and let herself go
And continued at just the right pace

She saw the twenty-two mile marker just ahead
Training and motivation she did not lack
4 and 1/2 miles were left
Suddenly everything went black

In the year of 2020
The next marathon was in Boston, MA
A young woman was proud
She would finish the race no matter what others would say

She wore the same number
With dedication and one special request
Now running the race in memory of her mother
Who couldn't finish and is now laid to rest

This dedicated poem is here to remind us:
That our friendship will always be stronger than love

DonÕt let your mind run wild too fast
But I feel a friendship above and beyond
Way past the stars or the moon
A friendship thatÕs unbreakable
A friendship I couldnÕt bear to be without

I canÕt figure out just why
But youÕre on my mind all the time
I check my watch every hour
And think to myself the time in Ny
ItÕs a crazy habit I do everyday

I know youÕre a cyber friend
But it sometimes it doesnÕt seem like that at all
I get this feeling like I know you for real
But then I remember that I donÕt at all

The day canÕt be complete without our daily chat
My mind wonders in school from time to time
Because I have a desire to chat with you

When youÕre kinda busy
Maybe I see just one word
Pop up on the screen of cyber space
Yea, nah, or ok
But thatÕs enough of a signal to me

Then there are the times I wait for
When youÕre not distracted in any way
When we share thoughts of the day
You break word records left and right
I treasure every moment we spend together

Look up canÕt you see our friendship
Shooting as high as a rocket ship into the sky
And someday when I see a shooting star
I will think of you and our friendship
And wish that it will always be stronger than love
And that wish I will hold and keep in my heart forever
So it can stay true and never go away
