Young People Learn From Their Parents By Observation

Sometimes, we as parents, pass on things to our children without even noticing, and that makes the job extremely problematic. There is a good example of this, which has to do with everyone having a unique personality, with both positive and negative points. An interesting dynamic is the result of your life and personality being mixed in a blender. Now, think about the end result, when you add in your spouse, as well as any number of children. Yet, that is what we all face as partners, spouses and parents, and as difficult as it is none of us would change a thing. Life is not only hard work, but fun, due to all of these incredible experiences. It's always hard to see your own child fail at something. All parents want to see good things happen for their kids, but it shouldn't be done at the expense of a child not learning about success and failure. If your child participates in sports and is not the greatest gifted athlete, then you have to step in and do some damage control. Be attentive to how your child is feeling, and then explain a few things to them in a straight forward manner. Your kids need to know that you still think they can succeed, even if the odds are against them. Try to maintain a spirit of positivity. Healthy habits and routines are necessary for good parenting, along with consistency. Being part of a family and having responsibilities, is what makes children develop character. Children like being a part of something and good parents will make them feel part of the family. What you will be doing is helping your child or children to build foundations they will use in all situations in their young lives. Whatever values children learn at home, most often are the values they take wherever they go. Children who have a sense of belonging will want to perform at a higher level, even with things like doing their homework without being asked. Learning to be a responsible child comes easiest with responsible parents who pass it on. Some parents, if not many, find themselves in a position where their child develops personality traits that the parent does not really like. You might be surprised, or you may not be, but either way change is a constant and is something that you will have to deal with. Sometimes it gets so bad that many parents don't even like their kids once they have reached an adult age. Changes in your child are inevitable, something you need to accept and handle in the best way that you can. No matter how bad your kids get, as long as you love them unconditionally, you will make it through this very troubling period. There is nothing that can compare to the parenting experience because it is one that presents us with so many learning opportunities and challenges. Yes, we all know it is a hard job to do, at times, but fortunately and hopefully it is one that is based on complete and unconditional love and acceptance. This final statement is the most important aspect of this article; if you are a parent, always love your children. |
