Salam! I just want to share with you the factors I consider when I’m buying a car whether brand new or used ones. I have lots of cars in our garage. Some were newly bought and the others were used ones which were sold to me by my business partners here in Dubai and in US.

You see both the brand new and pre-owned cars have their own advantages and disadvantages. If you go for a brand new car then the price follows because brand new ones are not-so affordable by many. On the other hand, if you go for a pre-owned car then the freshness factor follows because you are not sure about the history of that car. You are not sure whether the previous owner takes good care of it.

As for me, I consider 5 factors when I’m planning to buy a car be it a pre-owned or a brand new one. First factor is the appearance/uniqueness. I always want my car to be unique and different from the others. I want it to be 1 in a hundred thousand cars around me. Second is the performance. Researching about the performance of your dream car really helps. Read some reviews from the experts and/or from actual people who have bought that car. As for me, I visit ListOnNet.com for a list of cars whether brand new or used ones. I’m comfortable with their customer service because they are really nice. Third factor is PRICE. Some people always put the price as the first factor when planning to buy a car. Well, I can’t blame them because we all don’t have the same financial situation. Fourth is reliability. Do you want to buy a car that breaks down easily? You may buy it for a cheap price but later on you’ll have it fix from time to time thus making you spend more money. The last factor is practicality. Practicality is making the car do what you need. It means that if you’re always up for a mountain adventure then choose a wagon type or a minivan. But it’s up to you if you want to use your Mercedes-Benz when going for a mountainous adventure.

So that’s it, I hope that the others who are reading this blog will be enlighten and be more wise in buying a car. More power to the creator of this blog. You are such a great help to others who are planning to buy a car but are confuse between a brand new cars and the pre-owned cars. I hope I’m not prohibited to mention the website above. I just find ListOnNet.com a very nice website for buyers of brand new and pre-owned cars.

Last year, we have all been affected by the world economy crisis. Many establishments and manufacturing industries have gone bankruptcy. Hunger, famine, and drought are almost always present in our brothers who are living in a third world country and even with us. It was not a wise choice at that moment to buy luxurious things and that includes cars of course.

But despite of the crisis, I invested some amount of my money and bought a pre-owned car. The main reason why I bought a used car was because of a business idea that suddenly came into my mind. I went to 10 different dealerships and did a price comparison with them. I found out that there was a slight difference with their prices. In an instance, dealership A was selling Lexus at a cheaper price compared to dealership B and dealership C which was 100km away from dealership D was selling Porsche way too high compared to dealership D.




So what I did was I bought a 2006 Porsche Cayenne from dealership C. Then I travelled all the way to dealership D and sold the car at a 20% increase of price but still cheaper compared to the price of dealership D. I was making a good profit last year with what I did. And until now, I’m still doing it from time to time.

Did you realize anything based from what I did last year? If not then let me tell it to you directly. Buying a pre-owned car IS really a wise choice. You see if you buy a brand new car and then ride it even for just a week, automatically the price of your car will depreciate. But if you buy a pre-owned car, you can still sell it at a price you bought it and/or sell it even higher just like what I did.

Good Day! I stumble upon your blog and have read your posts that you are looking for contributors that can share experiences in buying a used car. Just call me Mr. Gray Hair. I apologize for not giving you my real name because I’m not comfortable in putting my real information in the net.

You see, back when I am still starting my job, I save almost 50% of my salary so that I can buy a brand new car and will impress the girl at our neighbourhood and can finally ask her out for a date. After 6 months of saving money, I still can’t afford to buy the car I want. One strange day a friend of mine goes to my apartment bringing with him a certain dealership flyer selling pre-owned cars. When I look at the flyer, I ask my friend if the pictures in the flyer are really pre-owned cars. My friend just shrugs his shoulders. And that’s what gives me an idea that a pre-owned car is not far from a brand new car.

I search through the internet for a pre-owned car that fits my budget and have landed in a car dealership website. A Mercedes-Benz SLK automatically shines through my eyes. I can still recall the exact feeling that I feel when I see that car. The next day, me and my friend goes to the dealership to personally inquire about the Mercedes-Benz. The manager greets us with a smile and explains to me about their car financing program. The program seems nice and affordable that’s why I take it.

 

After 2 days we go back to the dealership bringing with us the 3 grand as down payment and all the necessary documents they need for the car financing program. Just within the day we head back to the apartment with my new car. I realize at the end that not all old and used things, in this case the car, are bad. Sometimes the old, the used, and the trash are worth MORE than their brand new counterpart. By the way, remember the girl at our neighbourhood that I tell you about? She’s currently my wife now not because of my Mercedes-Benz but because of love.

Hi, I’m David Sanz. I have read your blog post and got interested in sharing my own experience to others when I bought a car for my son. You see, just like any other person out there, I too have gone through the dilemma of choosing between a used car and a brand new car. It took us 2 weeks to sit by ourselves and decide whether to buy a brand new car or a used one. At last, after discussing the advantages and disadvantages between the two parties involve, we all decided to buy a used car or a pre-owned car as my wife prefer to call it because according to her, the term “pre-owned” puts some class to it.

Below are some of the reasons why we opted to buy a used car.

• Used car DO cost cheaper compared to the brand new ones
• Cars per se, whether an old one or a new one, is still a car. It won’t turn into a bicycle after using it for 3-5 yrs.
• The value of a car depreciates by 12% in the first year according to Mastersautomall.com which my wife has read.
• If we buy a brand new car right now, after a year it won’t be new anymore.

Then that’s it, we then all went to a car dealership near us and we took a car loan. We bought an Infiniti M something. Heck, the red wine is blocking my mind and I can’t seem to remember the exact car model (all I can recall is that it starts with a letter M ^_^). Kidding aside, the car is top notch. Even though the car has been used for 3yrs. already, the engine is still good and I think it can still last for another 3 more years. Last December 2009, I received $3500 as my attendance bonus for not having any absences for the entire year. I planned to use it in buying a car so that I could take my family to a vacation easily without the hassle of taking a bus. With the help of my son who was a cyber freak, he came across to this website wherein they were offering a pre-owned car financing where they only require a $3000 down payment for a black 2007 BMW 335i.

Can you imagine that!? BMW is totally my dream car and they were offering it at a low cost. So I contacted them right away and told them that I was interested in their offer. Their customer service staffs were very accommodating and have processed my loan application flawlessly.

By the next day, I am already riding my BMW 335i proudly. It may be a pre-owned car but to tell you honestly, it looks like brand new and as if I was the first owner of the car. No defects or whatsoever in the car. The air bags were still intact both the driver's and passenger's bag. The seat upholstery has no scratch. Everything was in perfect condition.

I already have a nice car and a happy loving family. So what do you think was missing? You guess it right! What was missing in the picture was a nice, soothing vacation. I, together with my wife and son, went to a beach resort and spent the whole weekend happily. Surely I can say that it was the best day of my life.
