Writing Techniques - Methodology For Research Paper

There are few things that scare students more than a research paper. Things become even worse if the teacher purposefully doesn’t assign a topic. This means that the student must choose the topic, do the research, and then write the essay without any kind of guidance. This may sound like something from a horror movie to most, especially to people who are not very good writers. However, it’s actually not that difficult to compose a research essay worthy of a top grade. All you have to do is follow the methodology outlined in this blog post. You will find it a lot easier to write the composition when you know which steps to take. Also I recommend to read some tips on how to write a research paper.
The Steps to a Great Research Paper
If your teacher did not assign a topic, you need to choose one. Many points depend on the topic you choose. The more interesting and original the topic is, the more your teacher will be enticed to give bonus points. A unique topic shows that you have taken the time to compose the best essay you can. And this means a lot to your teacher. If possible, choose a topic that is of interest to you; you should have ample knowledge of it. Writing about something you like is a lot easier than writing about random things.
The next step is to find information about the topic. This means doing the research. When conducting research, make sure to use only authoritative sources. Experts in the field, previous publications, interviews with leading experts – all are considered good resources. Remember that you have to include all of these sources into the Bibliography section.
Come up with a thesis. Do some brainstorming and find a question that is not properly answered anywhere else. Think about how your writing can bring something new to the discussion. How can your research improve peoples’ understanding of the topic? These are things you should consider when creating the thesis statement.
Create an outline. This is a rough guide to what you want the finished product to look like. You will use it to guide your writing as you write the first draft. Include everything you want to write about and insert notes where appropriate.
Write the first draft following the outline. You shouldn’t worry about what you write at this point. Simply put all the information together. Revise the outline and draft as much as necessary until you get a usable essay.
The Last Step for a Perfect Paper
The last step involves extensive editing and then proofreading your work. Read everything out loud and make sure all sentences sound right. Ensure that paragraphs flow smoothly and that your ideas are organized in a logical way. Your readers shouldn’t struggle to read and understand your writing. During proofreading, ensure no typo or grammar or spelling error remains in the final version of the essay. It is very important that you submit a composition that is free of any kind of mistakes!
