Here are my picks for the family board game season. We never get bored playing our games. They are always rewarding (fights not withstanding).

We also appreciate what they do for the educational development our young kids. beat the Play Station and the iPad by a country mile.

Forbidden Island Game

Forbidden Island is easily our Favourite Game right now. It's social, It's co-operative and it's strategic.

Forbidden Island is a great board or card game. The pieces are solid and well made and the game progresses quickly.

There is no hanging around and waiting in this game and it can be over in about half an hour.

Forbidden Island is a fast-paced Pandemic style Board Game that takes the disease epidemic mechanic and replaces it with an ever-shrinking Island.

This game is easy for any age that can read a card and is very entertaining. No surprises then that it has won quite a number of board game awards.

Quoridor Kid Game

Quoridor Kid pits two to four players against each other in a race across the board.

The playing pieces and board are solid wood and beautiful to play with. Each player crosses the Quoridor Board in a different direction.

Each move consists of two options. You either move your mouse or you move a block in to position.

It will take about five minutes to learn to play and a typical game will last anywhere from ten to twenty minutes.

Quoridor Kid is bound to be a sure hit for any family with four to six-year-old children in it and is also ideal in smaller social or school groups.

Quoridor Kid has plenty of strategy and is so simple to play. The Quality of the board will ensure that it is a long-lived board game for your kids.

Brainbox Kids Board Game

The Brainbox Educational and Family Game series of board or and games come from the United Kingdom and have been met with huge success, particularly with families.

The basic idea of the Brainbox range is this:

You have 10 seconds to study the information on one side of the card before being asked a question from the back which has been chosen by the roll of the die.

Brainbox can be used with whole families and the pace is set by the players. It is a social and memory game that creates interaction and healthy brain exercise.
