Time Management Hacks for Busy People

It’s not uncommon for people to feel trapped when their obligations and responsibilities start to pile up. The less time you have for yourself, the greater the feeling of entrapment, and nothing good comes of it really. Luckily, there is a way to mitigate these task clusters and alleviate the pressure you are experiencing on daily basis. Here are a few useful tips to improve your organization, form a routine, and increase efficiency.

Get your sleeping cycle in check

The first thing you need to do is ensure that you are well-rested, as this will maximize your efficiency at work, and you won’t feel overly exhausted when you get home. Furthermore, you won’t feel stressed out as much, considering that you are fresh. A normal sleep cycle is between 9 or 10pm, to 7 or 8 am. This gives you enough time to rest, get up and get ready without rushing. There are various techniques you can use to help you fall asleep.

Set a time frame fully devoted to work and maximize your productivity

One of the reasons why our obligations tend to pile up is because we do not give a particular task our undivided attention. It’s not uncommon to be distracted while we work, especially if we are online. Even researching relevant content to write something down can have its flaws.

The ads of pages can cause input overload, making it difficult to stay focused on one thing. To reduce these distractions, have a piece of paper and pen next to you, and write down everything that diverts your attention from the important task. This way, the stuff won’t bubble up inside your head and you can focus on the job at hand more easily.

Don’t drag out your meals

It’s perfectly understandable to take your time and enjoy the meal, but to be realistic, not every dish you eat is a masterpiece. It can take up too much time to go on a break and buy something, eat it and then rush back to work.

If you have a well-organized sleep cycle, as mentioned at the beginning, there is more than enough time to get up, prepare a meal and use a lunch box to bring it to work. A great option is the Bento lunch box, which is spacious enough to fit even two portions, then again, this depends on how much you eat for a single meal. All things considered, it’s good to spend less time getting food and have more time to relax during a break.

Measure your time’s worth

One way to boost your productivity is to have an accurate calculation of your time’s worth. Simply divide your pay by the number of work hours, to find out how much you earn on an hourly basis. Then, whenever you waste time doing nothing, you’ll know just how much money you are throwing away.

Sure, you do not have to make everything about money, but no one likes to throw it away senselessly. If you are not doing anything productive, and if you are not resting, then bear in mind that you could have generated some income while you were sitting around.

Create daily schedule and use apps as reminders

Lastly, you need to organize your day and keep track of the time spent on each task, and only then will you have a clear overview of just how much time you have left for yourself. There are various apps you can use to create schedules and to remind yourself what’s next on your to-do list.

Make sure your day is not too cramped, organize everything so that tasks are evenly distributed throughout the whole week, and find out which of the tasks have a higher priority compared to others.

I am sure that, if you implement these tips, you will have more time on your hands, and an average workday won’t seem as strenuous as it did before. The main reason why you feel overburdened is because you never created a healthy schedule that you could adhere to. It may become tedious over time, to have your entire day planned out, so feel free to juggle some of your tasks and rearrange your schedule.
