If it isn’t on Google

Google’s looking for original text on a subject matter that explores the concept that the page is about, rather than meets keyword relevance standards of yesteryear. To do the broken link-building method, you must find broken links on a site that is relevant to your niche. You then contact the webmaster with the broken link and recommend your site as an alternative to the broken link. Readability has never been more important. If you’re not familiar with this term, it refers to how easy a piece of copy is for the average reader to get through. If you have plans to be in business for more than five years, you need to invest in SEO. You likely won’t see an immediate impact, but it has the potential to be the best return on investment for your business.

If it isn’t on Google

Today, virtually every business has its own space over the internet and it does not matter whatever the size the business is. Most of these business owners who use SEO strategies are successful in getting customer attention through marketing over the internet. Sometimes, all that you need are five to 10 relevant links, from authoritative sites, to begin seeing results from Google and other search engines. Increasing visibility via organic search today means incorporating content marketing, UX, CRO, and high-level business strategy. Among many factors that a search engine considers to rank the website, a backlink is one of the most important factors considered by the popular search engines to rank the website.Be mindful of structureSearch Engine Optimization, or SEO, is an integral part of any digital marketing strategy. It is a crucial element in organically driving customers to your businesses via online platforms. In other words, it's modern day marketing! Users searching for your site on Google might not necessarily want to land on your homepage. Sitelinks on the SERP provide them with a direct link to other parts of your site which might be more relevant to them. Trust an SEO expert who will build a campaign that uses a proven process, creates original branded content and monitors relevant metrics. Content marketing is a highly viable digital marketing strategy, designed to attract and drive traffic to your website or specific landing pagesEmpty content pages which exist simply to link to other pagesAll backlinks are not created equal - make sure your websites inbound links are from trusted, relevant sources and avoid junk or spam citations. There is still a correlation between high rankings and the amount of backlinks, but this trend will continue to decrease moving forwards. We know consumers want personal interactions with brands, but they also want them in real time Gaz Hall, from SEO Hull, had the following to say: "You should see improvements in website traffic, a key indicator of progress for your keywords."Poor MigrationAs long as you’re playing by the rules, there’s no significant danger that you'll earn a penalty or damage your reputation in the process. Make sure that all of your web pages can be indexed by search engines - make sure that they all have at least one link from somewhere on your site. The world of search is a big one; even if you serve a niche industry, there are hundreds -- or even thousands -- of keywords and topics to choose from, and your choices could make or break your strategy. Great content never sleeps, never needs a lunch break and is adored by search engines and customers alike.

Establish intuitive information architecture

Your website’s health will not only impact your SEO results but will also have a hand in how well you’re able to convert your traffic. A web page can be given an immediate “freshness score” based on its date of publication, when then decays over time as the content gets older. Regular updates to the content can help to preserve that score Paid link-building is considered black hat SEO and is likely to incur a penalty. Even after all of the changes with the search engine algorithms, inbound SEO links are still the biggest influence for search engines.

Use Internal Links

If you want to score the No. 1 position on Google, sit down with your teammates and brainstorm questions relevant to your brand, services or products. In link analysis, search engines measure who is linking to a site or page and what they are saying about that site/page. Fundamental search engine optimization never changes. You only have three things to work with: content, links, and measurement. Maybe the most fascinating thing about search is how quickly and regularly it changes. What we’ve covered here today may be replaced by something entirely different a few years or a few months from now as technology continues to evolve.

Establish intuitive information architecture

You want a user to click your result in Google, and not need to go back to Google to do the same search that ends with the user pogo-sticking to another result, apparently unsatisfied with your page. Users searching for your site on Google might not necessarily want to land on your homepage. Sitelinks on the SERP provide them with a direct link to other parts of your site which might be more relevant to them. You don't necessarily need a large social media presence, just an active one.

The more you engage with the local community by responding to comments and questions, the more your Facebook, Google+, Twitter and other social profiles are likely to appear in local searches. Many website owners neglect to spend the time analyzing how their page structure actually looks and works for the visitor.Don't do it one-offQuality will win over quantity every time and your results will not be nearly as fruitful if you’re putting out mediocre content. SEO is a long-term strategy, so it sometimes takes months before you start seeing results.

Google started penalizing mobile unfriendly sites in 2015. And they’re likely crack down even more in the future. If you want to make your site mobile-friendly, I recommend Responsive Design. Gaz Hall, a UK based SEO Specialist, commented: "By properly using HTML tags, on-page linking, and internal backlinking, you can streamline your site to best serve your customers.

By creating relevant content that guides users through the marketing funnel, you can improve sales and generate more interest in your brand."SEO is a journeyTry and write blog content for external websites, which will link back to your website and boost your domain authority. Backlinks are the foundation of Google’s algorithm. Is your article hiding among millions of others, difficult to find and not being read as a result? If it is, you’re not alone; great research can go relatively unnoticed if it’s not highlighted and indexed in the right way. You may begin with top-level, aggregate numbers, but you must drill down into specific pages that can improve products, services, and business sales. The truth is that working on the search optimisation for your website is not a guaranteed source of traffic.

How do people find your website on Google

Having a great looking website with good content is a great starting point, but everything will be for nothing if your website can’t be found. Most people will search for what they want online by using search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) can help increase your visibility in these searches. A high ranking website will keep you ahead of your competitors, as well as leading to an increase in the number of visitors.

In today’s day and age, few things—from a business perspective—are as important as having a website for your company. 85% of the world’s internet users also shop online, meaning your company is missing out on a huge stream of revenue if you neglect this very important aspect. However, just owning a website is only the beginning of the battle. With billions of websites online fighting for attention, as well as probable millions in your business’s vertical, it can be exceedingly difficult to get your site noticed. This is where Search Engine Optimization comes in.

Depending on the demographics we’re engaging with and the tone of the industry we’re promoting, I suppose the language we employ in our campaigns should really depend on the language our consumer’s converse and engage with. So if we’re online marketing a solicitors firm for example, our tone must reflect seriousness and formality whereas if we’re marketing a nightclub or bar: perhaps we do have more lee-way to be able to converse in a more relaxed tone if it means we’re going to attract wider audience bases.

Competitor research - It’s never wise to stay in a bubble and assume that you’ve got it right first-time. Ensuring your SEO works for you - Good SEO gets you places, but great SEO benefits from a structured monitoring plan that you can act upon.

There are several key factors that Google uses to determine rankings. While the core principles stay the same, Google is always making improvements. There are roughly two slight changes every day but sometimes, the changes are bigger and these are usually made public, giving an SEO specialist a chance to discuss their impact.

How to get on top of local search

In the world of small business, local clients are more important than anything else. If you own a restaurant that relies on walk-in customers, or your product is region specific, you need people from your local town or city to use your product or service. This is where local SEO comes into play. Different from traditional search engine optimisation, which targets anyone who makes a web search anywhere, local SEO makes use of Google’s, Bing’s, and Yahoo’s local search functionality which only displays when someone from a nearby location searches for a particular search term. Because these results actually show up above all other organic results, local SEO can be an extremely powerful tool for your business. In fact, utilizing a well-run local SEO campaign has the potential to make your business and website soar; but, like everything else, it needs to be done right.

Now let’s look at how Google views local search. Search engines are committed to returning the most relevant results for every query. Google is continually trying to interpret local intent and wants to deliver local search results when it does. For instance, if someone types “atm” and a city or neighborhood into a search box, she most certainly wants to get money out of a 24-hour banking machine, and for that to happen, it must be located physically close to them.

When local intent is determined, Google may deliver local search results in several ways. If it’s sure that one result is better than all others, it will display it in the one box at the top of the organic results.

Major search engines have algorithms that determine which local businesses rank in local search. Primary factors that impact a local business's chance of appearing in local search are proper categorization in business directories, a business's Name, Address, and Phone Number (NAP) being crawlable on the website, and citations (mentions of the small business on other relevant websites like a chamber of commerce website)

All this being said, you don’t have to be a local based business to reap the benefits of local search. Because local results appear above organic ones, if you can make your website show up when someone searches for a local product or service (i.e. online marketing in Beverley), you can open up a host of new profit-making opportunities, all while increasing your traffic. Even more importantly, searching for local services is a signifier that normally leads to closing a deal; they are ready to buy at this point—and are normally beyond the research phase—and are trying to find the right company to buy from. With the right website design and search engine optimization/marketing practices, you could be that right company. Remember; local search makes up 43% of all online searches, meaning if you aren’t targeting local search keywords, you are missing out on nearly half of your potential traffic.

Beverley: my home town

I live in Beverley, a small market town in the north of England. The town dates back to medieval times and has a wonderful minster, racecourse and large stretch of land to the west of the town called the Westwood. Recently named as one of the best places to live in the UK, Beverley seems to have it all. It has reasonably priced housing compared to the rest of the UK, its small enough to care but big enough to mattter, is close to the countryside and not too far from Hull, the nearby large city.

Transport links too are pretty good too - with railway links north to Scarborough and south to Hull and the rest of the country's rail nework. If you're an avid walker then there are lots of routes around the town and a little further afield. The most noticeable being the Wolds Way which winds its way across the Yorkshire Wolds.

Cyclists love Beverley too as it finds itself part of the Tour de Yorkshire and has a great little cafe in the town called Cafe Velo which caters to all manner of cyclists. There are lots of cycle routes and national cycleways too which fan out from the town centre.

Shopping in Beverley is a happy occasion with lots of cute independent shops lining the pedestrian streets as well as a large Saturday market which is a focal point in the town for festivals of which there are many. Beverley hosts a literary festival, a festival of Christmas, a folk festival and a blues festival.

There are also lots of restaurants in Beverley from small independent Michelin star restaurants to large chains. You'll also find a variety of independent cafes and classic British pubs in the town too. In fact there are old coaching inns dating back to the 16th century.

Entertainment is also avalable outside of the pubs and restaurants. The Parkway Cinema is a multiplex cinema showing the latest movies. The East Riding theatre puts on lots of plays and shows throughout the year and smaller productions are performed at the Memorial Hall.

If you like small town life then you'll love Beverley. The locals are great and the schools and colleges are first rate too. (We even have the country's oldest grammar school.) Why not pay us a visit for a day and enjoy everything that Beverley has to offer?
