Don't be too quick to judge.

Until recently, I was not much of a sports nut. However, with my cognitive loss came a tremendous fondness for all sorts of games that I never really knew or cared much about. I have always loved board games, like Scrabble and even Monopoly. Like many Americans, I was crazy about the Olympics. As a girl I played a little tennis and baseball. (We had a street team.) It took me a while to learn to ride a bicycle, but I adored a tandem with my best buddy. I was on a bowling league when I worked for the earpieces for police radios and my personal favorite is still swimming. I might as well say that I try to walk every single day!

All you have to do is plug it in, turn it on, and tune in to some of the channels, and soon enough you'll be experiencing a whole different world, being able to listen in on conversations, learn about radar traps, and maybe even hear the latest gossip in the neighborhood.

2 a.m. - North Capitol at Q Sts NE. A witness told police they saw a gunman open fire on a victim who was at the Metrobus stop. The bus stop received significant damage. But police never found any injured persons.

Note: Brigatine Castle was scheduled for demolition. Unfortunately, it burnt to the ground right before that kill date. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. For more on Brigatine Castle visit Lori Lane's Brigatine.

Such a trip involves a lot of driving and some planning in regards to what you're packing, but it's definitely worth it to head out on the open road and see where it takes you. The scenery is unparalleled and the people tetra radio you meet are unique and fun. I highly recommend a similar trip to anyone living in Alaska or who is planning on spending a summer in this land of the midnight sun.
