The White House said little about how Obama would celebrate on Saturday night and Sunday, but the birthday wishes started rolling in early. House Democrats presented Obama with a birthday cake when he went up to the Capitol this week, and American Legion youth members sang Happy Birthday to him during a White House visit late last month. For last years birthday, which fell during his heated campaign for re-election, Obama also celebrated with a round of golf before heading to Camp David. But he later held several birthday-themed campaign fundraisers in Chicago, Kim Kardashian including one at his familys South Side home. Obama is scheduled to return to the White House on Sunday.

We cannot allow today's action by Putin to stand without serious repercussions." They also suggested, sites among other things, pushing for the completion of U.S. missile defense programs in Europe, as well as another NATO expansion. Fed officials are debating whether to start scaling back a measure used to try to spur the U.S. economy -- the last of three bond-buying programs aimed at lowering long-term interest rates. The nations unemployment rate of 7.4 percent last month, while down from a 26-year high of 10 percent reached in October 2009, is still higher than the 6 percent average level of the past two decades. Disruptive Debate The public debate over competing candidates has detracted a bit from talking about the things that really matter in a chairman, said Broaddus. El-Erian said the discussion is starting so early that it forces people not just to focus on whats good, but it also forces people to find differences and that is not a good thing. What you really want is continuity of monetary policy to make sure that you continue to allow the economy to heal. As White House officials have tried to tamp down speculation, theyve signaled that Obama wont be announcing the decision during his August vacation on Marthas Vineyard, as he did with Bernankes reappointment in 2009. Pressure campaigns from Congress or allies of Summers and Yellen, theyve said, arent useful.
