It's not the kind of sight you expect to see. I was on my way to Lizas Kitchen to enjoy a gourmet sandwich for lunch. And there it sat. A (source) huge, three-story, classically-designed building that looked as though it has been picked up and tossed upside down onto David the beach resort. The lampposts dangled upside down. The trees had their roots pointed toward the sky and their leafy tops aimed at the ground. Sure makes you wonder.

The measure was announced by the Panamanian National Commission of Medical Negotiations (Comision Medica Negociadora Nacional, or COMENENAL). The medical profession argues that Law 611 seeks to privatize health care. However, Health Minister Javier Diaz made it clear that the intention of the law is to provide medical services in hard-to-access areas and to those with the greatest need without their having to rely on private clinics. La Estrella de Panama quotes Diaz as saying, And when a person can't get a medical specialist, what he has to do is go to a private clinic or move to the capital. It's incredible to me that what COMENENAL wants is to keep this bill from passing so that people will have to keep on going to the interior of the Republic to private clinics. Meanwhile, Mauro Zuniga, a spokesman for the medical profession, made a statement to Telemetro, saying that doctors, nurses, technicians, and health professionals are left totally unprotected under this bill, because employment stability is completely lost. COMENENAL also made it clear that, far from opposing the law in and of itself, it does oppose the government's approach. La Prensa cites Domingo Moreno, COMENENAL's president, as follows: We are opposed to the recruitment process, we are opposed to the lack of controls, to the excessive flexibility, and that's the reason we're fighting'. He feels that we already have the tools to resolve the situation.

PM off to Panama

The ship, the Chong Chon Gang, was intercepted on July 10 as it tried to enter the Panama Canal on suspicion it was carrying drugs. Authorities instead uncovered 25 containers of military hardware, including two Soviet era MiG-21 fighter jets, air defense systems, missiles and command and control vehicles. Both Havana and Pyongyang said they were "obsolete" Cuban arms being shipped to North Korea for refurbishment under a legitimate contract. The communist allies did not explain why the http://www.purevolume.com/williamshczo/posts/4740476/LAPT+Panam%C3%A1%3A+Los+ocho+finales items were buried under more than 200,000 sacks of sugar inside the ship. The ship's 35 crew members are being detained at a former US military base in Panama on arms trafficking charges.

WonderWorks in Panama City Beach challenges the mind, imagination (Video)

Maybe it is something more serious like a banking crisis like we had in Indonesia back in 1997 or more recently in Cyprus. I am hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. What are some things you can do to protect yourself if Panama is just the first signal of a pending banking crisis? First and foremost make sure to have some cash. Second buy the essentials for your family. Be frugal until the storm passes. I know this sounds simplistic, but those who are prepared will be fine.

Some of the directors of the groups holding company Cheraman Financial Services Limited (CFSL), in which the Government of Kerala has a 11 per cent stake, met in Dubai last week and had consultations with senior officials of some of UAEs banks and financial institutions as well as high net worth investors. We saw a tremendous deal of response to it, said APM Mohammad Hanish, secretary to the government of Kerala. Hanish is also on the board of directors of the company. My estimation would be that with some deal of effort from our side and a greater deal of realisation of the potential of this institution certainly from the initial talks here in Dubai and UAE, where I got excellent signals I really believe that a substantial portion of the authorised share capital could be obtained from across the Middle East. We intend to have similar visits and discussions in Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia, Hanish, who was visiting Dubai last week, told Gulf News in an exclusive interview over the phone.

Back in office again, Sharif is particularly keen to increase cross-border trade to jump-start Pakistan's stricken economy. "Pakistan and India can prosper together, and the entire region would benefit from our cooperation," Sharif told the General Assembly on Friday. But Singh has said relations can only improve once Pakistan cracks down on militants accused on staging attacks in India a perennial concern that has only intensified since the 2008 Mumbai attacks that killed 164 people in India's commercial hub. On Friday, Singh said, "the epicenter of terror still remains focused in Pakistan." A renewed spate of violence along the disputed Kashmir frontier this year has threatened a decade-long cease-fire. On Thursday, suspected separatist rebels killed 10 Indian security forces in the Indian-held portion of the Himalayan region an attack that the top elected official there said was aimed at derailing the meeting of Sharif and Singh in New York. Yet with time running out on his nearly decade-long premiership, Singh will be thinking about his legacy. He was born in the northern Punjab village of Gah in what later became Pakistan, and within a year of taking office invited then-Pakistani leader Pervez Musharraf to a cricket match in India.

India, Pakistan holding peace summit in New York

Indian Ambassador Gurjit Singh, who had conceptualized this seminar as an effort to enhance people to people linkages particularly with young Indonesians, and to explore another avenue for business engagement among filmmakers, spoke of the growing avenues for greater engagement between young filmmakers of both countries to look to a new genre of filmmaking from young eyes. He invited Indonesian film makers to participate in the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held annually and also asked Indonesian to avail of the hospitality of Directorate of Film Festival to bring Indonesian films to Indian audience. Acknowledging that Indian films were frequently shown in Indonesia commercially, he also said that Bollywood has provided a useful idiom for cultural engagement between India and Indonesia. He focused on possibility of co-production and expanding business linkages between India and Indonesia. He also referred to the benefits of tourism arising out of film production which many countries, including those in ASEAN, successfully used in Indian films and hoped that Indonesia would provide the incentive and ambiance for such creative engagement.

According to Ariel Cohen of http://collinswyuh.blogs.experienceproject.com/2219358.html the Washington-based Heritage Foundation, who was in the audience, Putin appeared to be stocking up potential negotiating cards for the talks. Any real attempt to link the two issues would certainly kill the deal. Putin also repeated many of the arguments he made about the dangers of international interventions in his recent op-ed article in the New York Times, describing at length how he had the idea of writing the piece. He said he added a paragraph attacking American exceptionalism at the last minute, after Obama used the term in his speech on Syria earlier this month. Putin: Israel's nuclear weapons just make it a target

As Americans, we squirmed while watching our president first talk tough to Syrian President Bashar Assad, then vacillate, worry out loud, go off-message, drag his feet, bring us to the brink of war, then try to hand the problem off to Congress. Putin saw an opening and exposed Obama for the indecisive and shallow fool that he is. No amount of revisionist story-telling can change the fact that Obamas promise of Hope and Change was nothing more than an ambitious politicians lie to get himself http://www.savingsdaily.com/post/lfw-welcomes-public-into-closed-fashion-world elected. They just create foreign policy problems. The chemical weapons deal with Syria has increased pressure on Israel to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Some 190 states have joined the NPT, whose goal is to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and weapons technology. Of the worlds nuclear powers, only four have not joined the treaty. Of these, India, Pakistan and North Korea have all openly tested nuclear weapons. Israel continues with its policy of nuclear ambiguity. Israel has refused to sign the NPT despite pressure from the international community.

SEE IT: Russian President Vladimir Putin has doggie double

Out of a geostrategic nowhere, Russia has rocketed to the position of global powerbroker, capable of preventing a U.S. military action. It is now the dominant diplomatic power in the Middle East, akin to the Soviet Union before Egypts Anwar Sadat switched from Moscow to Washington in 1973. Along the way, Moscow has met an overarching goal of its foreign policy: preventing regime change in a friendly authoritarian state close to Russias borders. The Syrian formula is simple but powerfully attractive to both sides of the conflict. The recipe relieves the West of the nerve-wracking burden of responsibility for a military action in a strategically vital and volatile region, and replaces it with a long, drawn-out U.N.

Obama Takes On Coal With First-ever Carbon Limits

"For power producers and coal mining companies that reject these standards, they have no reason to complain, and every excuse to innovate," said Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., the author of a 2009 bill to limit global warming. The legislation, backed by the White House, passed the House, but died in the Senate. A powerful Republican opponent of the EPA plan, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, said in an emailed statement that "the president is leading a war on coal." The regulations have been in the works since 2011 and stem from a 1970 law passed by Congress to control air pollution. In 2007, the Supreme Court ruled that that law, the Clean Air Act, could be applied to heat-trapping pollution.

Obama administration officials coming to Detroit next week to meet on bankruptcy response

Fox 8 reports the Cleveland Clinic, which is the largest employer in Northeast Ohio with about 39,000 workers in the region, announced the cuts to its 2014 budget at a meeting Wednesday. A spokeswoman for the clinic tells Fox News the clinic is being forced to cut back to prepare for increased costs and decreased revenue under the health care reform law. These changes will include offering early retirement to approximately 3,000 employees, reducing operational costs, and then layoffs as needed. The clinic says its main priority is to continue to provide a high quality of care during the transition, an attribute that led Obama to tout it in 2009 as an example of what hospitals could be under ObamaCare. In a press conference in July of that year, Obama said the Cleveland Clinic is an example of health care that works well. And part of the reason it works well is because they've set up a system where patient care is the number-one concern, not bureaucracy, what forms have to be filled out, what do Kim Kardashian we get reimbursed for, Obama said. Those are changes that I think the American people want to see. Now four years later, employees at the clinic say they are worried they wont be able to provide patients care at all anymore if they are laid off. It absolutely concerns me, employee Joanne Lyons told Fox 8. Everybody wants to keep their job and we want to do the best that we can do, but its a new era and we dont know what to expect.

On Aug. 30, White House officials met with CEO Rip Rapson of the Kresge Foundation, Quickens Dan Gilbert, Wayne State University Board of Governors member Debbie Dingell and others to discuss ways they could leverage federal aid and coordinate efforts by nonprofits and business to spur development and ensure investments are well managed. I think whats terrific is that the White House has shown a keen interest in being part of the revival of the city, said Matt Cullen, president and CEO of Gilberts Rock Ventures enterprise that oversees his Detroit investments. Theyve shown a real interest in understanding the challenges in the city. Rapson said Thursday the White House has been trying to get an inventory of ways they can be helpful. Ohio clinic touted by Obama slashes budget due to ObamaCare

"The extended hand has been there from the moment the president was sworn in. It looks more likely to be a handshake and brief exchange of pleasantries - probably in the U.N. building - rather than a formal meeting where the leaders could talk at greater length With conciliatory overtures and gestures emanating from Iran's http://www.nexopia.com/users/meyersnrpd/blog/8-kim-kardashian-will-return-to-keeping-up-with-the-kardashians-shes-on-maternity-leave ruling echelon at a surprising pace in recent days, the White House is looking for the right balance in forming a response. Obama eventually wants to encourage Iran to make concessions in talks over its nuclear program. But if he embraces Tehran too warmly before it takes concrete actions, he would risk criticism that he is fumbling another foreign policy issue after struggling to handle crises over Syria and Egypt. SIGNS OF WARMING Iran's rhetoric has softened markedly since Rouhani took office in August.

U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman said negotiators are entering the final stages in the Pacific trade deal and aim to wrap that up by the end of the year. The accord would cover trade issues in such areas as agriculture, financial services, rules of origin and protections for companies that compete with state-owned enterprises. The negotiations will be among the main topics when Obama travels to Asia beginning Oct. 6 for a meeting of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation organization and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
