Hollywood Warns Gays: Careful What You Wish For (WATCH)

Hollywood Park traditions prepare to find new homes

5895270541762176270.png If Hollywood is any guide, it probably isn't. From Double Indemnity and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf to War of the Roses and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the silver screen is littered with bitter, vitriolic marriages scarred by regret, revenge and recrimination. The latest installment in this genre is the film Between Us , adapted from the hit Off-Broadway play by Joe Hortua. The film version, which I directed, stars Julia Stiles and Taye Diggs as newlyweds, and Melissa George and David Harbour as their old friends.

5895267980178612090.jpg After the 2001 Flamingo, Hialeah folded as a Thoroughbred operation and there was no movement to acquire its signature race. The race was so closely connected with the birds, said John Brunetti, still the president of Hialeah, which is now in the business of Quarter Horse racing, simulcasting, and casino gambling. Without the birds, the symbol of the race, running the Flamingo someplace wouldnt mean much. For what its worth, Hialeah still has about 250 flamingos on the grounds. Without Santa Anita coming forward, the Hollywood Gold Cup, like the Flamingo, wound be in danger of becoming extinct. From Seabiscuit in 1938 to Game On Dude last year, the roster of Gold Cup winners is chockablock with champions.
