Business-environment Conflict Now Intense, Garnaut Says : Renew Economy

Women in Business: Q&A with KoAnn Vikoren Skrzyniarz, Founder of Sustainable Life Media and Sustainable Brands | Laura Dunn

6015752564106403858.jpg Conflict between business interests in the energy sector and environmental values was now intense over climate change, the application of unconventional gas production technologies, wind power, geo-sequestration of carbon wastes and local environmental damage from coal production and export. Garnaut who was advisor to the Labor government on climate said the Abbott governments move to repeal the 2011 carbon laws and replace them with an ineffective Emissions Reduction Fund did not make sense to anyone who understood the implications of modern science on climate change. Senate consideration of the repeal bills was now bound to be caught up in disputation over the budget, he said. The disputed budget tax increases and spending cuts that would be at the new Senates mercy totalled $12-18 billion over four years. Retaining carbon pricing and rejecting the governments Emissions Reduction Fund would reduce the deficit by $6-7 billion in 2014-15, and a total of $6-12 billion in the following three years.

Drive Business Like a Longhorn Rancher - Forbes

6015752587150808558.jpg At the beginning, we were dismissed or ignored by most folks, but happily as we've gained momentum, we've seen that people coming in to try to emulate what we're trying to do rather than following biomimetic principles and finding paths to growth that fill new unmet niches or needs. How is Sustainable Brands making a real difference and encouraging companies to embrace sustainability? For one thing, Sustainable Brands continues to frame the forward edge of the conversation about the next economy and how brands can succeed by leading the way to a better future. For another, we're bringing the system in the room - and the right people within the system who are by nature 'courageous optimists' as we call them. From there, it's simply about amplifying all the great work this community is doing - reflecting it back to itself so everyone can learn faster, and also helping make connections for people to those who can become resources to work people are wanting to tackle.

6015752605448991894.jpg When they havent been attentive and cannot spell my name correctly, why would I think they would be selling a good opportunity? Being an entrepreneur can be lonely, but realize that no one cares about your business more than you do. Look for the indicators and when the time is right, make your move even if it means doing it on your own. Invest in the best people and take the risks to up your game.Personally, I have never failed when I have chosen to invest in a stellar Longhorn.
