Homak Gun Safe - The Best Quick Access Firearm Safe Solution

Gallup polls reveal up to 47% of all homes in the United States contain one or more guns. It is every gun owner’s responsibility to safely and legally secure their firearms in a manner to protect their family and the general public. With modern quick access safes like the model HS10036683 Homak gun safe, there are no excuses for not keeping your firearms locked up.

Homak Gun Safe – Model HS10036683

Homak Manufacturing has been in business for over 50 years. While they may have begun as kitchen cabinet makers, they quickly expanded their line of products and have been a successful company ever since.  Most recently, Homak centers its interests on security for tool storage and gun cabinets.

The Homak HS10036683 pistol box is constructed from heavy-duty 1.5 mm steel, with a solid welded construction and covered with the industry leading toughest finish – powder coated epoxy. Their patented design including a piano hinge with rounded corners that closes flush with the unit to prevent prying open the unit. Like the previous model, the unit is programmable with your personal code and will lock-up for a preset fifteen minutes of time should the incorrect code be entered multiple times.

This unit has multiple mounting options unlike the previous one. It is easily mounted inside a closet or even a drawer to allow inconspicuous security for your firearms. This Homak gun safe operates on four AA batteries and there is no key for back-up, much to the dismay of some consumers. However there is a battery terminal located on the front of the unit below the code entry keys that allow you to press a nine volt battery to them – giving power – in case of battery failure. There is also a factory code also given in case of emergency. Inside the unit you will find a custom-sized rubber mat to keep the contents from getting scuffed or scraped.

Reviews are widely varied on this Homak gun safe. While there are the typical reviews with expectations outreaching what the safe is listed to perform, there are some that have valid concerns and all state the same problem. Keeping in mind, this is a median-priced pistol box (not a safe), it still should operate properly at all times within the parameters promised. Put in layman terms, this thing should work, right? One fifth of all the reviews posted have described the unit as faulty in some way after using it for a number of months.

Most problems described centered on the unit not opening with the assigned code. Some opened only with the company assigned code, while others didn’t open at all. Another problem two customers had was with the wiring of the battery inside the unit coming loose and making the product non-operational. This not only affects the normal operation but the back-up operation of applying the nine-volt battery to the battery terminal located on the outside.
