So I decided to do one last entry before it all hits the fan tomorrow. I've sent individual Kiwinotes to some old members or I have stopped by their journal to wish them well. If I haven't gotten to you yet, I'm sorry. I'll miss you, too! I promise. Kiwi has been such a huge part of my life for 10 years. TEN YEARS! That's unbelievable. You can see me around Facebook if you wish. Just send me a Kiwinote with your name.

Things I dedicate to Kiwibox:

1. When I first joined Kiwibox, I was an active member of the Young Writer's board. I've met several girls (and one guy) through our talent. They have helped me develop in my writing. As a writer, it's sometimes hard to let other people in and to let them criticize your work. But with this being online and basically anonymous, it was a lot easier for me to share. I'm still friends with four of those girls. It's been 10 years and I'm grateful that I still share my life with them, although not on Kiwibox.

2. Kiwibox has helped me through my friend's suicidal tendencies in high school and also helped me through friendships that were basically hell for me. Kiwibox has been a great place for me to brag about my accomplishments as well as rant about my failures.

3. I have met two people (Jenn and Dana) on Kiwibox and I eventually met them in person. Dana had thought about attending college at Kutztown so I gave her and her father a tour of the campus. Jenn and I finally met after being friends for 9 years. We did it up big too. We arranged to met in Manhattan back in April 2009. In 24 hours we had the biggest blast of our lives.

4. I'm so happy to have been a part of Kiwiments which was ran by Alli. I wish more honor and support would have been given in Alli's efforts, but I think she knows how much of a special person she is really.

5. Alli sent me Wally the Watermelon Dog for a graduation gift. I LOVE Wally and Alli. Thank you!

6. Kiwibox also helped me develop my musical taste a little. Without Kiwibox, I wouldn't have known about the Raincoats or Sleater-Kinney. (Well, I'm sure I would've found out about those bands in another way eventually...)

7. Kiwibox and journals have no doubt helped me mature and develop my life and the person I am today.

Thank you.

In other news... Go Phillies. Pick it up a bit, please? I'm glad I didn't watch last night's game. I am in love with Cole Hamels, but... come on, man. You don't have it anymore. He's not the same guy as last year.

I start my job tomorrow at 8:30a.m. It was originally was supposed to be Oct. 17 at 8:00a.m., but then it was changed to Nov. 2 at 8:00a.m. Now it's Nov. 2 at 8:30a.m. Sheesh! I finally told my friend from school that I'll be working at the same company as she and you know what? SHE WILL BE IN MY DEPARTMENT! I'm so freaking excited. Frankly, I'm excited because of money. Duh. I'm so broke and I need to pay off college loans.

Err. Last night as Ashlie's brother's Halloween party. Photos will be added to Facebook right after this entry. Be sure to check them out. I was Wilma Flintstone. My mom made my dress and I made me necklace. One other girl was Wilma and my friend Kristen (who I haven't talked to since high school) was going to be Pebbles. That would've rocked. (No pun intended.) But she decided to be Batgirl instead. Err. I had fun. Ashley didn't show up because she was sick. Grrr. But on Thursday she went out to a show! (I know because she invited me!) Grrr. Anyway, Chrissy and Tiff were there too. I had fun. And apparently Joe (one of Neil's friends) just moved into the house up the road for me. Hmmm... I might be at his place every once in awhile now... eh.

So Goodbye Kiwibox. I love you. I will miss my layouts and my profile. If you want to stay in touch with me, let me know asap!

Hi there. So of course I'm peeved about Kiwi 3.0. I think I'm especially peeved because I really wanted to use ALL of my kiwipoints (= a LOT) to purchase free CDs. I figured that Kiwi wouoldn't give me any CDs that I would enjoy so once I received the CDs, I'd turn them into a local music store for STORE CREDIT! Brilliant plan, right? I just wish I would've thought about it back in June. So there goes free money. Thanks a lot Kiwi. I tried to rip Kiwi off, but I guess they saw me coming, huh?

I'm currently trying to win Lita Ford's new album from House of Hair. It's a long shot, but what the hell? I don't have anything to lose.

Errr. GO PHILLIES! Spank the Yanks. I made sure my mom stocked up on junk food for Wednesday. I'm getting ready for some late and stressful World Series nights.

I'm going to Ashlie's Halloween party on Halloween. AND it's the clock kick-back time early Sunday. I hate changing the clocks. Pathetic. So of course I'm going to be exhausted Sunday morning. But I hope the party is a blast.

Maybe at this point you, my readers, are wondering how my job is going. To tell you the truth, I don't have a clue. The lady called me the afternoon before I was supposed to start, and told me that she messed up on the schedule or she had some sort of bad communication. The training session will start on Nov. 2. Yeah.

I think it's really making me nervous. I had a dream last night that I went to my job, but I had to wait outside until they opened the doors for the day. As I stood there many other people my age started to gather around. I figured these were the 49 other people that were hired along with me. But then the lady came out with a list of names. She started to read down the list, and it seemed like all the annoying people were called. One girl was laughing and joking with a friend and didn't hear her name announced. The employer then said, "Maybe I should have not hired you if you weren't going to listen, but welcome anyway!" And she started to laugh like it was just a joke. When the list was complete, my friend Erin and I weren't HIRED. So I'm like, "What? I thought you called me because I was hired?" And my dad appeared and apparently had to pull me away before I did something I would regret.

Not funny. In my other dreams, my neighbor adopted Eli and she let him come back for a visit, but I couldn't keep Eli. [:(] Then the other dream I had had my Uncle Al in it. He hugged me and said he missed me. My Uncle Al died in July 2008. So... no good dreams.

Last Monday, Rachel called me and said she was bored. She arrived at my house, and told me she wanted to take a roadtrip. Of course I said I wanted to go to Hughsville and she was thrilled to go. She has never been there although it's only an hour away. She originally wanted to go to Williamsport, so that's why I suggested Hughsville. H-ville is only 16 miles from Williamsport. (You know, the town that holds the Little League World Series?) We got halfway there when I realized I had my camera, but I forgot my batteries. I was a little sad. We got to Hughsville and we walked around the streets. It's so cool there. I wish I had photos to show. We ate at an awesome Italian restaurant. Then we went to Clarks Summit to a bar to meet her boyfriend and his friends. Hughsville to Clarks Summit = two hours of roadtrip. hahaha. We arrived after Rachel nearly killed me multiple times. We stayed until 2 a.m. and thankfully took the Interstate through Scranton to Wilkes-Barre to home instead of using the backroads.

Two days later, we took Jason's friend (Jason = Rachel's boyfriend) to the Steamtown Mall (in "Steamtown"/Scranton). It was my first time there. Anyway, Rachel pissed me and Anthony off so we went off on our own. Then about 30 minutes later, we got back together.

Errrr. It was my brother and sister-in-law's first wedding anniversary on Sunday. I sent them a card, but my parents and I have yet to send them their gft. It's going to be great.

It's only a month until Thanksgiving. I can't wait.

On Thursday 15, 2009 it snowed. How annoying? Since then it's been in the 60's and sunny except for today. Rain. I hope Saturday is kinda warm.

So I guess that's it for my update and I'll just post a few photos. Of course all my photos are on my Facebook page. I just posted at least 200 photos from my summer so check them out!

Shoutouts to people who responded

SilverSafpheir :

Hey guys. I guess Kiwi is just about dead. It doesn't really matter I guess because I am never on anymore. I used to love coming here. I'll just give you some of the most important updates.

- I've been invited to Ashlie's house for a Halloween party on Halloween. People are only allowed in and able to get drinks if they dress up. I'm going as Wilma Flintstone. My mom will make me the dress, and I'm in the process of making the necklace. I'm making the "pearls" out of tin foil balls covered in gray clay that looks like faux stone. I just baked the beads this afternoon. Now I need to string them and I'll be done. I've convinced Ashley to go and we went shopping for her costume yesterday at the mall. She's going to be a "punk pink power ranger" so that should be interesting. She invited her crush so hopefully he'll go. Stucker has just been dumped so I'll try to get him to go to so he can get things off his mind. The sucky part is that Ashley will get there around 10:30 because she has work that day/night. But hopefully Ashlie and Tiff will be fun to hang out with.

- I got a job. I went to a job fair on September 22 and I applied for two jobs. I had two interviews the following Monday. The first one was at a loan company. (At the second job interview, I didn't make the cut because I couldn't type.) I wrote a writing sample (write a complaint letter and then respond to the complaint letter) and then they were trying to find someone to interview me but no one was available. Apparently the person they originally had picked out to interview me for the job (title: customer service researcher) was my cousin. I didn't know my cousin was the manager to that position. (Casey's mom.) So they called me back for an interview two days later for another position (which looks and sounds a lot more of what I would like to do). I think it's a new department of 50 people. I won't be in my cousin's department which means I won't be with my friend Jess (the one I lived with at Kutztown), but I think I'll live. I'm sure we could still carpool if we wanted, but I have yet to tell her I got the job. Anyway, I start my training this Saturday (Oct. 17), and I'm excited. Like I said, I'm 1 of 50 new people so I'm not nervous. All the focus won't be just on me. I'm a little nervous though because I need to understand loans and that sort of thing. But I'm very delighted that this is not an on-the-phone job like the other departments. Errr. Oh yeah. I've been told it's just basically me writing letters and emails to our customers. The pay is awesome. $11.34/hour, Monday-Friday 8am-4:30 with a mandatory 8-hour overtime. So this is going to be some serious cash. The mandatory overtime works like this: Every week each person needs to clock 8 hours between Monday and Saturday. It could be before work or after work or whatever as long as it's completed. Hopefully after my training (which will be done by at least by mid-November) I'll get to pick and choose when I can do my overtime. Of course I'll need to judge it by how much work I do during the day, and if I will have work after hours to work on to determine when I will do my overtime. I'm going to try to avoid working on Saturdays if it's possible. Which means maybe some late nights or maybe early mornings, but I doubt mornings. So yay. I have yet to talk to my cousin. I never talk to her. I just talk to Casey and even then... I haven't talked to her since we went to the Penn State football game before my job interview at the company. Actually... she just IM'ed me. Weird.

So yeah. I'm no longer a professional bum.

- Err... I went to the Bloomsburg Fair with my parents two weeks ago. It's Pennsylvania's largest fair. It was a crappy week, but we managed to attend on a day it wasn't rainy. It was cold, but it wasn't rainy so I'm thankful. That fair didn't seem to have too many jewelry competitors either, so maybe I'll enter some things in next year for both fairs.

- Speaking of which, I just got my check in the mail this past week for winning 1st and 3rd place. It's only for $13, but damn I'm proud.

- The weather forecast for tomorrow is calling for a possible snow shower. I'm not pleased. My family has yet to turn the heat on, but we're trying to avoid doing that unless we absolutely need the heat. Plus, my cousin's boyfriend has been helping my dad with fixing all our vehicles which means they pull the vehicle into our garage and leave the door open. That's a waste of money to heat the outside world. Anyway... I'll be annoyed if it snows tomorrow.

- I hung out with Ashley a record of three times within the last two months. I'm thrilled. We went to a show in Wilkes-Barre last night. It wasn't as good of a show as the one three weeks ago in Jermyn, but I still had a fun time. I mean, even if it's not my type of music, it's still fun to go out and support the local acts while hanging out with my friend. Two weeks ago Ashley, Stucker, and I hung out. It was just like the old times. I loved it. Oh and I got hit on by one of the bouncers in Jermyn. Boyfriend Casey said I should have accepted the bouncers offer for a drink. Free stuff is the key. But then I told Casey I made the right choice because if the dude bought me a drink, I would have to "get to know" the bouncer. And that's not fun.

- The last important news I have is... GO PHILLIES! Repeat! Repeat! I want the Phillies to be the first team to win back to back World Series since 1976!

Um.... if anyone wants to stay in touch with me, I'm on Facebook a lot. I'll try to go on AIM once in a while. My screenname is melonpup3 and you can search me on Facebook. If you need to know my name, just IM or Kiwinote me.

Your job sounds pretty awesome- congrats on getting one! I hope it works out for you and it sounds like a really good job to me, I wish I could get some overtime like that because it really does boost your check. Glad you got to go to the fair when it wasn't rainy and stuff- and I hope it doesn't snow tomorrow because October is really early for snow. I think this site will really slow down when it goes to 3.0. I'm trying to back my journal up but it's taking me forever so yeah...

{Operation#1064} Luzerne County Fair -:- Jim Thorpe -:- Phillies Games -:- No Job -:- Family Visitin

  • 09/16/09 3:26 am
Hmm. Update time.

The Phillies/Giants game on September 2 was nice. The weather was perfect. Boo on the Giants winning though.

Tomorrow I'm going to see the Phillies play against the Washington Nats (who are eliminated, but still) with my parents and my cousin Casey.

Um... Boyfriend Casey and I met in Jim Thorpe on September 5. We toured the town again, took a guided tour of the prison and then had a train ride. The weather that day was fabulous. We spent about 6 hours there.

Then I went home. I got home and my mom and I dropped off my entries for the Luzerne County Fair. Came back home to have a cookout with my cousin Marie and her three children, her boyfriend, my uncle John, my uncle Bob and my parents.

The next day, we had another cookout with the same people with the addition to my Uncle Bob's wife.

Errr. This past weekend Casey and I went to Nicholson. A steam train was supposed to ride on top of the famous bridge, but we got tired of waiting for it. It was an hour late when we decided to just leave. Apparently it came about ten minutes after that. No big deal. I got fabulous shots of the bridge anyway.

We drove back to Dallas, or rather Shaverton, and ate dinner at Pizza Perfect. Ashley Hoover was working. Apparently they begged Ashley to come back to work for her so that's awesome. Anyway, we finally talked. Geez. All summer.

Then we went to Rachel's house to see if she wanted to got to the fair with us. She was going to meet up with us, but something came up and she didn't feel like going. Anyway, Casey and I were at the fair for a few hours. The weather was finally nice. It had rained for two days beforehand so I was so worried that it's be bad. It wasn't. We ran into Ashlie, Tiff, Chrissy and Justin.

My parents also went as well as my brother and my sister-in-law. For those who are friends with me on Facebook, you already know that I won first and third place for my two necklaces. (Don't get too proud of me because there were only four entries in the jewelry category.) My photos didn't stand the chance, but my dad thinks next year I should make my photos larger to attract more attention.

Sunday night Rachel and I went to the fair. We went to the animal stalls and the arts & crafts area of the fair before 9. Then when those sections closed at 9, we went to the rides. The previous night, I went on the Ferris Wheel with Casey. I thought I was going to die. Then the next day I went on the Ferris Wheel again with Rachel and I thought I was going to die. But we were fine. Then we went on the Scrambler and we broke it. Seriously. Rachel and I were getting on the Scrambler just as the fireworks show was starting so we had a perfect view. The ride had just gotten to it's maximum speed and KABOOM. I think it was our car that crashed into something else. We weren't hurt, but holy shit. At least that didn't happen on the Ferris Wheel, right?

Er. What else? Nothing really. I still have no job. I'm going to a job fair on September 22, so I really hope I can find something.
